Incoterms® rules are revised about once a decade to keep up with the rapid expansion of world trade and globalization. Since the last revision in 2000, much has changed in global trade and the current revision take into account issues such as developments in cargo security post 9/11 and the growing need to replace paper documents with electronic ones.

Implementation date: 1 January 2011. Incoterms® rules define the responsibilities of buyers and sellers for the delivery of goods under sales contracts. Incoterms® 2010 takes into account the latest developments in commercial practice, and updates and consolidates some of the former rules.
